Max & Louie Day to Night Duo: Everyday Nudes and Copperhead eyeshadow palettes

Day to Night Eyeshadow: One Duo, Every Kind of Day

You know the drill. You do your eyes at 7am for a day of meetings, school runs, coffee catch-ups, whatever your Tuesday looks like. Then something comes up after 5 and suddenly your soft daytime eye feels a bit... quiet. So you either start again in the bathroom mirror or you turn up looking exactly like you did at breakfast.

We made two palettes to fix that. Together, they're The Day to Night Duo.

Meet the palettes

Everyday Nudes is twelve all-matte neutrals. Soft cream and beige through dusty taupe and warm brown to a rich near-black. No shimmer, no glitter, just smooth, blendable mattes that do the work quietly. This is the palette you reach for on repeat.

Copperhead is twelve warm shades built for a bit more. Creams, plums and deep chocolate mattes sit next to copper, bronze and gold shimmers and glitters, so you can go from a wearable warm daytime eye to a full metallic smoky moment without switching palettes.

Both are buildable, blendable powders that layer cleanly without going patchy or fading by lunchtime. Both are $69 on their own. The Day to Night Duo puts them together for $125, valued at $138, so you save $13.

Why day to night matters more when your skin has lived a little

Here's the honest bit. Eyeshadow behaves differently on skin over 40. Lids get a little softer, creases get a little deeper, and a formula that looked fine at 25 can settle, crease or turn chalky by mid-afternoon.

That's why we built these palettes the way we did. The mattes are finely milled so they blend into skin rather than sitting on top of it. The shimmers in Copperhead are smooth, not chunky, so they catch the light without highlighting texture. And because the shades are pigmented, you need less product, which means less to crease.

The result is eyeshadow you can put on in the morning, build on in the evening, and not think about in between.

The day to night formula (it's easier than you think)

You don't need to start over. You need about three minutes and two palettes.

Morning: Everyday Nudes

Sweep a soft cream or beige over the whole lid to even things out. Take a taupe or warm brown through the crease and blend it upward with a fluffy brush. If you want a touch of definition, run the near-black along the upper lash line with an angled brush and soften it. Done. It reads polished, not made-up.

Evening: add Copperhead

Keep everything you did this morning. Now press a copper or bronze shimmer onto the centre of the lid with your finger (fingers really are best for shimmer on mature skin, the warmth helps it melt in). Deepen the outer corner with a plum or chocolate matte. Smudge a little of the same shade under the lower lashes. If it's a proper night out, tap a gold glitter right in the middle of the lid.

That's it. Your daytime eye just became your evening eye, and you didn't take anything off to get there.

Three ways to wear the duo

The Tuesday. Everyday Nudes only. Cream on the lid, taupe in the crease, brown on the lash line. Fifteen seconds of mascara and you're out the door.

The long lunch. Everyday Nudes base with a single sweep of Copperhead's bronze shimmer across the lid. Warm, awake, not trying too hard.

The night out. Full Copperhead. Chocolate matte in the crease and outer corner, copper shimmer on the lid, gold glitter pressed in the centre, plum smudged under the lower lashes. Pair it with a Max & Louie Shadow Stick in Pinot or Smoked as a base and it'll last until the Uber home.

Why one duo beats a drawer full of palettes

Most of us own more eyeshadow than we use. Half of it is the wrong undertone, the other half has that one shade you actually like and eleven you've never touched.

The Day to Night Duo is twenty-four shades chosen to work with each other. Every shade in Copperhead sits naturally on top of an Everyday Nudes base, because they were built as a pair. There's nothing in either palette you'll skip. That's the whole idea: a complete eye wardrobe in two compacts that fit in your bag.

Made in NZ, made for real skin

Like everything we make, both palettes are vegan and cruelty free, designed here in New Zealand by a female-founded brand that started because the makeup on the shelf wasn't made for the women buying it. We don't do complicated, we don't do 40-pan palettes you need a tutorial for, and we don't do makeup that only works on 22-year-olds.

Frequently asked questions

What is a day to night eyeshadow look?
A day to night eyeshadow look is a soft daytime eye that you build on in the evening rather than removing and starting again. Typically you start with matte neutrals during the day, then add depth with darker mattes and shine with shimmer or glitter shades at night. The Max & Louie Day to Night Duo pairs an all-matte palette (Everyday Nudes) with a warm shimmer palette (Copperhead) for exactly this.

What's the best eyeshadow for mature skin or skin over 40?
Finely milled matte shadows that blend into skin rather than sitting on top of it, and smooth (not chunky) shimmers that don't highlight texture. Pigmented formulas help too, because you use less product and get less creasing. Both Max & Louie palettes are formulated with mature skin in mind.

Do I need an eyeshadow primer?
Not essential, but a cream base helps shadow last longer and look more intense. A Max & Louie Shadow Stick in a matching tone works well as a base under either palette, especially for evening.

What's the difference between Everyday Nudes and Copperhead?
Everyday Nudes is twelve all-matte neutrals from cream to near-black, designed for everyday wear. Copperhead is twelve warm shades that mix cream, plum and chocolate mattes with copper, bronze and gold shimmers and glitters, designed for warmer daytime looks and evening smoky eyes.

How much is the Day to Night Duo and what's included?
The Day to Night Duo is $125 NZD and includes both the Everyday Nudes and Copperhead eyeshadow palettes (twenty-four shades in total). Bought separately, the palettes are $69 each, so the duo saves you $13.
